Macular Degeneration
Macular degeneration is the leading cause of visual impairment in the United States. Macular degeneration usually affects persons in their seventh and eighth decade of life. It typically starts with little warning and then may cause an abrupt loss of central vision. Though patients rarely go completely blind, macular degeneration can cause a loss of central vision and peoples ability to drive and read.
